Welcome to
the world of Nzito Furniture: certainly not your ordinary,
run of the mill interior design studio. For the furniture
created here is born from an historical and cultural patrimony
which dates back over many centuries; that of the traditional
Dhow.
Our unique Dhow furniture creations are hand crafted in Tanzania
from the naturally aged reclaimed hardwoods of retired sailing
Dhows. Each piece is custom created by our many fundis [craftsmen]
for our exclusive line of Dhow Style Furniture.

exchanges between the different countries in this part of

Nicola Swynnerton, owner of Nzito, discovered that the noble
woods used to build dhows corresponded perfectly with a vision
she nurtured to create an elegant, robust furniture line.
While continuing to radiate pure African tradition, it could
also beguile a worldwide clientele.
And so a business was born which not only saved these eloquent
ancestral vestiges from the pyre but also provides an income
and a trade for some indigenous villagers in Tanzania.
And so the story goes... NEXT >
